Syndicated Content and Duplicate Content Facts

Syndicated Content publication is on a rise these days. However, after Google unleashed Panda, there was a significant decline in the number of people using content syndication to advertise their blog or website. The main reason being syndicated content was misinterpreted for duplicate content. Here are some important facts you need to know regarding SEO of content syndication and how to use it to gain maximum exposure, links and traffic back to your website.

But before we move any further, I would like to throw some light on what this syndicated content is.

Content Syndication is basically the practice of writing an article or a post with links back to your website and publishing it to various article directories. Generally article directories do not allow you to include links in your main content. I use resource boxes to link back to my blog in the articles I publish.

Syndicated Content Facts

Now lets have a look at some of the important facts related to content syndication and content duplication.

  • Publication :- It is important to time an article you want to syndicate. First publish that article to your blog/website and make sure that it has been indexed by search engines specially Google. Then you can publish that article to various article directories. Do not forget to include a resource box including a link back to your website at the end of your article. It would be best if you use the same email id and pen name for your articles too.
  • Use Feeds :- You can make use of your blog feed to syndicate content. Many content syndication networks make use of RSS feeds to syndicate content.
  • Avoid Duplication :- You can syndicate or distribute an article to various directories and press releases after it has been published on your blog and indexed by search engines. But doing the opposite is strictly forbidden in the eyes of major search engines specially Google. You must not publish something to your blog which has already been published somewhere else. If you do publish something like that, then you need to give back credit to the original article by linking back to it. Though I personally avoid any kind of duplication.
  • Targeted Traffic :- Syndicated content is often known to bring in more targeted visitors back to your site. Rather than low quality traffic, you get visitors which are highly interested in your niche.

Syndicated content if practised in a right manner can be extremely beneficial. You should also look forward towards joining some content syndication service. For now, Blog Engage provides an excellent service in this field. Not only syndication, they help you gain backlinks, traffic and in SEO too.
